Body & Cover: Common materials include Cast Iron (IS 210 Gr. FG200 or BSEN 1561 Gr. 200), Cast Carbon Steel (ASTM A216 Gr. WCB), or Stainless Steel (ASTM A351 CF8 or CF8M).
Screen: Typically Stainless Steel (AISI 304 or AISI 316) with specific perforation diameters or mesh sizes (e.g., 1.2mm dia perforation, or 40-80 mesh).
Gasket: Materials like Compressed Asbestos Fibre (IS:2712), Non-asbestos, or PTFE/Teflon are used.
Drain Plug: Often made of Bronze or Stainless Steel (AISI 410).

Design & Performance Specifications
Design Standards: Strainers are typically designed to industry standards such as ASME B16.34 or manufacturer’s standards.
End Connections: Available with Screwed Ends (BSPT or NPT), Flanged Ends (ASME B16.5 Class 150/300, DIN PN10/16, or BS 10 Table E/F/J), or Socket Weld/Butt Weld.
Size Range: Commonly available from 1/4″ (15 mm) to 20″ (500mm) or larger.
Pressure Ratings: Typical ratings range from PN10/PN16 to ASME Class 150, 300 and higher, with working pressures around 13-20 kg/cm² for cast iron, and up to 40 kg/cm² for cast steel variants.
Operating Temperature: Depends on body and gasket materials, generally up to 220°C (428°F) for cast iron and over 400°C (752°F) for cast steel versions.
Testing & Certification: Strainers often come with Works Test Certificates, and those for steam service require certifications like the IBR Test Certificate in Form III-C in certain regions.
